I bet you know someone who's been affected by Alzheimer's. Most of us do. I learned today that every 71 seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It's the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.

Well, this fall you can do something about it! Teams and individuals all across the country are now starting to prepare for the upcoming Memory Walks that are taking place in numerous cities across the nation. The Alzheimer's Memory Walk is the largest awareness event for Alzheimer's in the country. Would you believe over 600 communities are taking part?



Why not consider being a team captain, joining a team or donating to the cause? When I learned about the walk I got the idea form a team representing the theater community here in Denver, so I'm starting on that this week. And really, how hard could it be? It's a 2-3 mile walk on a Saturday morning in the fall. This isn't a marathon we're talking about. But consider the marathon that those battling Alzheimer's and their families are facing today. If you don't want to or can't walk, there are lots of volunteer opportunities with your local Alzheimer's Association groups to help support the walk.
